Successful Article Marketing: How Long Does It Take?

Most internet marketers who want to promote their website using article marketing make the very common mistake of expecting instant results. Article marketing, just like SEO, is a long-term strategy.

But how long does it take to really get results from article marketing?

If you have been online for a while, you may have found many so-called experts or other internet marketers telling you that writing an article would instantly get your article or your site to page one of search results. But nothing could be further from the truth, except if you are promoting a very low competition keyword that gets one search per day. The typical question of people who start with article marketing is something like: “I have been doing article marketing for a month, I submitted 4 articles, but my rankings for my targeted keywords have not improved yet. I don’t see any results from my efforts. Does article marketing work?”

There are 2 major points you should be aware of if you want to make article marketing work for you.

The first important point is that to make things happen, you’ll need at least 3 months. This is the time frame that will get you to where you want or at least put you on the right track. And it is not only true for article marketing, but also for SEO, or pretty much any traffic generation method outside paid traffic. And this is a minimum. If you are just starting and have no experience at all, the learning curve might be steep and you might not get good results before 6 months of consistent article marketing efforts.

The second point is that you need to submit articles consistently. Submitting articles every week consistently will get you much better results than submitting 5 articles at once and waiting to see what happens. If you do so, it is probable than nothing will happen at all. You do not need to submit a ton of articles. You only need to be consistent with your article submissions, which is quite different. Submit 2 articles per week during 3 months and you will start getting good results. Do this during a year and you will have the results you are after, or even much better results.

Let me tell you a story. A very successful internet marketer I know started as a newbie article marketer a little less than 2 years ago. He committed to promoting his website with article marketing only and to writing one very high quality article every single day. He submitted the article and promoted it right away on social networks, bookmarking sites, and video sites. After 45 articles published, and doing only this, he was having close to 100 daily visitors to his network marketing website. He went on and published more articles, not every day but consistently. He now gets more than 2,000 unique visitors per day to his website and has achieved a multiple six-figure yearly income. This guy did not expect instant results, he didn’t use any magic pill, he just chose article marketing and committed to write consistently.

You might have heard many stories of people who submitted 5 articles and waited for results that never came, and quit. But there are also many stories like this one above of people who stuck with it and managed to build a very successful online business. Article marketing must be considered as a long term marketing technique. You will see that your efforts will pay off big time if you manage to be consistent. This is one of the big secrets of internet marketing success with article marketing.

    An excellent article David which explains how valuable it is to get good quality articles into the digital environment.
    I presume it is critically important that the articles are unique and not copied from other sites.
    I see that you need to be patient when you start out. It is obviously much easier to have someone write the articles and manage the blog for you I suppose.
