Is good quality content the key to social media success?

David Lomas

We are all focused on how we are going to use social media to help promote our businesses to potential customers.
In many cases I see people have a basic understanding of how to actually ‘use’ the social media tools that we all have available, such as twitter, facebook and Linkedin to name the three main forums.

However, many people don’t seem to have actually worked out either a strategy to make these social media sites really work for them or have not planned their media campaign in advance.
Thus the idea of having the correct and relevant content for a successful media marketing campaign has not even been considered.
If we are to really start to make an impression with social media marketing, we have to have a clear understanding of the message that we need to reach our prospective customers and a strategy to make it work.

This strategy also needs to work alongside your offline efforts to be really effective within your own business community.

Original content is key here. Too many people are using words they’ve cut and pasted from other sites. My most loathed word at the moment about any business is ‘passionate.’ All business should be and should show it in the way they perform. Anybody else got other favourite ‘hates?’
